As has been well publicised in the media, current scientific studies have shown the effect of carbon emissions on the environment. From 1st May 2007 all my driving lessons will be carbon-neutralised. But what does this mean? This page hopes to answer that.

To reduce the effects on the environment we all need to consider how we use cars. Government policy tries to discourage un-necessary use of cars. Obviously, I don't want everyone to stop using cars as there would be no need for instructors but consider how you use it. As I need the car to teach you then its use is necessary. For this reason I have decided at no extra cost to you to neutralise the carbon my car uses on driving lessons(and for my private use). This means for all the carbon the car uses there is a project somewhere in the world to compensate thereby neutralising the effect.

This means that you can learn to drive with me safe in the knowledge that you are not polluting the environment as you learn. To my knowledge I am the only driving instructor that does this. So, if you care about the environment and are worried about the impact of the car then come and learn to drive with me.

The scheme I have chosen is targetneutral which is inconjunction with BP. If you want to do these same or someone you know wants to neutralise their carbon or if you want more details about the scheme please visit http://www.targetneutral.com

How to become a CO2 neutral driver

Every time you go for a drive you're emitting CO2 into the atmosphere. This greenhouse gas is believed to be one of the main contributors to climate change. The good news is you can do something about it.

Consider using public transport more often. Check your car is as energy efficient as it can be. And when you do drive, cancel out your emissions by supporting projects that reduce the equivalent amount of CO2.
